A K-pop Garden Created by Fans, Supporting Forest Recovery

A global initiative where K-pop fandoms and citizens come together to create a public garden in Seoul Forest and support the recovery of wildfire-affected forests.

K-pop fandoms have long turned admiration into collective action.

What begins with shared support for an artist has grown into
a culture of participation that reaches beyond borders.

This initiative brings that energy into a public garden—created by fans, rooted in the city, and connected to the recovery of forests affected by wildfires.

A Proven Legacy of Fan-Led Forests

Star Forests : The First Generation of Fan-Led Forests

Since 2012, Treeplanet and K-pop fandoms have created more than 70 fan-led “Star Forests.” What began as a way for fans to express love for artists evolved into a meaningful form of social participation.

These early forests represent the first generation of fan-led environmental projects—built through collective support and shared with everyday citizens.

Among the artists whose fandoms helped establish these first-generation Star Forests are EXO, G-Dragon, SHINee, BTS, Girls’ Generation, and IU. Their fandoms’ participation transformed admiration into lasting public spaces, leaving a tangible environmental legacy within cities.

케이팝 팬덤은 2012년부터 아티스트와 팬덤의 이름으로 70여 개 이상의 ‘스타숲’을 조성해왔습니다. 이는 단순한 기념을 넘어, 시민이 함께 만드는 공공 환경 프로젝트로 발전해 왔습니다.

이 초기 스타숲은 팬덤 참여 기반 환경 프로젝트의 ‘1세대 모델’을 상징합니다. 엑소, 지드래곤, 샤이니, 방탄소년단, 소녀시대, 아이유 등 다양한 아티스트 팬덤이 참여해 도시 곳곳에 숲과 정원을 남겼습니다.

이 공간들은 팬덤의 애정이 사회적 가치로 확장된 기록이자, 지속 가능한 환경 참여 문화의 출발점이 되었습니다.

Beyond Star Forests : How We Build and Protect Forests Today

Building on the experience of fan-led forests, we create and restore forests as living systems that can recover, adapt, and endure.

Our work spans global planting, climate-resilient research, wildfire recovery, and sustainable public gardens.

Through research-driven approaches and long-term field projects, we ensure forests deliver ecological value beyond initial participation.

What is Being Created

In 2026, a K-pop Garden will be created in Seoul Forest, one of Seoul’s most iconic public green spaces, as part of the Seoul International Garden Show.

Located around the Seoul Forest outdoor stage, the garden will become a symbolic public space where music, fandom culture, and climate action intersect.

Designed as a climate-responsive garden, the project will feature native plants adapted to the Korean Peninsula, contributing to biodiversity and long-term ecological resilience in the city.

The initiative also extends beyond the garden itself by supporting the restoration of forests damaged by the 2025 large-scale wildfires in the Yeongnam region.

2026년 서울숲에서 열리는 서울국제정원박람회를 통해 서울숲 야외무대 인근에 케이팝 팬덤의 참여로 조성되는 K-POP 정원이 만들어집니다.

자생 식물을 활용한 기후 대응형 정원 조성과 함께 2025년 영남 지역 대형 산불 피해 숲 복원도 함께 추진됩니다.

A Climate-Responsive Garden

The core mission of this project is to create a climate-responsive garden shaped by the collective support of K-pop fandoms.

Designed with native plant species adapted to the Korean Peninsula, the garden contributes to biodiversity protection and long-term ecological resilience.

Support beyond the garden will contribute to climate-responsive forest restoration efforts in southern Korea, following unprecedented wildfires in 2025 that affected forest areas comparable to more than 1.7 times the size of Seoul.

한반도 환경에 적응한 자생 식물을 아티스트와 매칭하여 식재/조성되는 이 정원은 생물다양성 보전과 장기적인 생태 회복을 목표로 합니다.

모인 기부금은 정원 조성을 넘어, 2025년 서울 면적의 약 1.7배에 달하는 산림이 피해를 입은 영남 지역 산불 피해지 숲 복원으로 이어집니다.

Key Elements of the Garden

Designed as a lasting public space in Seoul Forest, the garden connects cultural participation with environmental restoration.

Key elements include:

🪑Wildfire Wood Stool Benches

Benches crafted from trees damaged in the 2025 wildfires will be placed throughout the garden.

When donation milestones are reached, participating fandoms may have the name of their supported K-pop artist engraved.

📦Fan Goods Exchange Box

A dedicated exchange box will be installed where fans can bring their own K-pop merchandise, browse items from others, and exchange goods.

The space is intended to encourage interaction and connection among fandom communities.

🔦Lightstick Display Areas

Designated areas may allow fans to place or display their official lightsticks as part of the garden experience.

Some elements may be adjusted as the project develops.
Together, these elements aim to create a shared public space where fandom participation leaves a meaningful and lasting impact.

팬덤의 참여를 통해 정원의 상징 요소가 함께 만들어집니다.

2025년 영남 산불 피해목으로 제작된 스툴형 벤치,

각 팬덤의 응원봉을 전시할 수 있는 공간 ,

팬들이 하나로 모여 나눌 수 있는 공간인 굿즈 교환함도 설치될 예정입니다.

이 모든 요소는 일시적 설치물이 아닌 서울숲에 지속적으로 남는 공공 정원을 목표로 합니다.

Events & Fan Activities

Participating fandoms may also organize fan-led activities in connection with the K-pop Garden.

Events may take place at the Seoul Forest outdoor stage, subject to prior coordination and compliance with public space regulations.

These activities may include:

Fan-organized celebration events
Community gatherings connected to the garden
Cultural activities linking music, fandom, and environmental awareness

All events require advance consultation and approval.

서울숲 야외무대에서는 팬덤의 사전 신청을 통해 팬 주도의 기념 행사 및 이벤트 진행이 가능합니다.

다만 모든 행사는 공공 공간 운영 규정에 따라 사전 협의 및 승인이 필요합니다.
